Daniele Rugo

Daniele Rugo lives and works (mainly) in London.

With the help of a highly motivated and talented team Daniele is currently developing his next short film, whose provisional title reads ‘Tomorrow arrived today’.

He has exhibited video works in London, Venice, Valencia, Melbourne, New York, Bologna, Istanbul. His last exhibition took place at the Cinémathèque de Tanger as part of ‘Leaving Room’ (with Roberto Cavallini, in collaboration with James Sweetbaum). The exhibition consisted of a digital installation + a screening programme and was produced by Surrogate Productions, LLC.

His work often draws inspiration from contemporary continental philosophy (in particular the work of Levinas, Blanchot and Nancy). He is coordinator of InC, Research Group in Continental Philosophy based at Goldsmiths.

He considers John Cassavetes to be the filmmaker who most influences his work. For The Wapping Project Daniele has curated a film season devoted to the American director.

He has worked as Research Assistant for the project Networked Cultures, which investigates the transformative potential of art, architectural and urban practices in Europe, as they team up to challenge traditional models of spatial planning, co-habitation and land use.
